Bent Blog Lounge & Bar Schedule

The warmest spot at this year’s Bend Winterfest is the Bent Lounge hosted by The Source Weekly’s blog, Bent! It’s home to the only liquor bar on Winterfest grounds along with alternative sources of entertainment to further warm your loins. Oregon Lottery is sponsoring the lounge, so swing through and test your latest Keno strategy.

Look forward to seeing performances from local musicians Greg Botsford and Noah Charles Stroup as well sets from the Top 3 Finishers in last year’s Last Comic Standing, Chelsea Woodmansee, Samantha Albert, and Stan Whitton.

Expect a healthy dose of snow, motorcycle, and cult movies throughout the weekend with a daily dedication to the Big Lebowski.

Lebowski Happy Hour is an opportunity to show off your ability to hold a White Russian in one hand and a Wii remote in the other. Prizes will be awarded for Top Wii Bowling Score, Best Lebowski Milk Mustache, and Person Who Best Ties the Room Together.

The weekend concludes with a laid back Sunday of movies and a Make-Your-Own Bloody Mary bar.

OMSI Kid’s Area – Presented by Bend Research

Returning again this year to Bend WinterFest is the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.  Following the success of the Bend Research sponsored Kids Area in 2011, OMSI will be bringing their extraordinary scientific and technological games and activities to Central Oregon. Children and adults alike enjoyed their Science Festival kit, containing up to 15 touch tables, with brain teaser type activities meant to entertain and challenge wide age ranges.   Their Health and fitness table top exhibits are hands-on interactive exhibits that emphasize healthy living and what to look for in eating a healthy diet. Kiddies enjoyed Nano technology table top activities, hands-on, interactive exhibits that communicate awareness, engagement, and understanding of nano-scale science, engineering, and technology.  Also a hit with parents and children alike was the 3D Dinosaur puzzle, a wooden 3d puzzle that is roughly 4 feet high.  OMSI staff also schedule interactive demonstrations. This wide variety of demonstrations on topics such as Chemistry, Physics and Electricity are given by OMSI science educators throughout the weekend.  Examples of the demonstrations include demos on dry ice and Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion.  Thanks go to Bend Research for sponsoring the OMSI tent.
