Fire Pit Artists

Ryan Beard, Ryan Beard Studio  ”Art is the management of contrast.”

Kellen Bateman and Hunter Dahlberg are local blacksmiths whose work

represents both the functional and artistic side of the genre.They

have worked together on numerous projects and have put their talents

together, bringing fire to life.They will be providing hands on demo

throughout the BWF, as well as offering finished work for sale in the Fine

Arts Marketplace.

 

Stuart Breidenstein is best known in Bend as the jeweler, artist of Stuart

Breidenstein Designs and co-founder of The Workhouse, both in the Old Iron

Works neighborhood.

 

James Donnell and Erin Kaye/Donnell Fabrication are a design and

production team whose work ranges from fine art painting through

sculptural and utilitarian work, typified by unusual juxtapositioning of

forms.

 

Bayard Fox/ Cement Elegance custom fabricator of cast concrete located in

Bend.

 

Galen Ruud began exploring architectural design in metalwork in California

since his twenties and has lived in Bend for 5 years, in the midst of the

artistic life and also off grid.

Ice Carvers

Russ Leno been sculpting everything from pumpkins to snow over the last 30

odd years. Some of his adventures and accomplishments include:

Carving with the US Snow Sculpting Team, St Moritz, Switzerland; Harbin,

China and Sapporo, Japan

Competed in two international competitions sculpting 7500 pounds of ice

 

Michael Mackie is a pastry chef at Brasada Ranch and an culinary

instructor at Cascade Culinary Institute.  He has been carving ice for 6

years.

 

James Royal, a Washington native got his start in the ice sculpture

industry at West Seattle’s well known establishment – Salty’s on Alki.

Hehas traveled around the Northwest competing

and showcasing his creations at various festivals and exhibits.

 

Jason Waldron  harnesses the innate character and beauty of materials to

communicate how we are all being shaped by the elements of life.

 

Snow Sculptors 

Bert Adams has Been sand sculpting for over 20 years. In 1996 he started

the “Sand in the City “contest which now holds competitions nationwide,

providing a venue for Masters Level sculpting. He will also be sculpting

in Ice this year.

 

Pauly Anderson is a contractor and artist living in Bend. He has lived and

worked in skicentric environments over 15 years, and been active in Snow

Sculpting in Aspen and Deer Valley Colorado as well as Bend.

Bill Cravis’ distinctions include a full fellowship to Skowhegan School of

Painting and Sculpture (2004) a Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant (2006)

and a funded McKnight artist residency at Northern Clay Center, MN.

Currently, Bill Cravis lives in Bend, where he is an Assistant Professor

in the Fine Arts and Communication Department at COCC.

 

Lisa Donze is always looking to try different

mediums to sculpt with. I live in Olympia Washington and have enjoyed

snowboarding for the past 15 plus years and am excited to be in Bend

Oregon again this year.

 

David Ember aka Mr.e) is an award winning illustrator and designer

who creates images for an international clientele.

 

LLoyd McMullen is a multi media artist working extensively with found and

recycled objects, whose work has been shown in Brooklyn, Coos Bay,Seattle,

Atlanta, and Bend. One whimsical example of yarn bombing , a knit tree,

can be seen in front of Gossamer Knitting in Bend.

 

Kevin Schwarting is inspired by winter landscapes and summertime fishing

in icy rivers, Schwarting is an artist who specializes in outdoor

recreation. A native of Chicago, Schwarting spent ten years in Montana

before moving to Bend, Oregon in the spring of 2011.
