WinterFest’s reputation for great music is growing and this year will not disappoint. This year’s line up includes Larry and His Flask, MarchFourth Marching Band and The Coup. The Century Center after parties include Buck 65 and Keys N Krates. Mainstage sponsored by Amalias and Mt Bachelor.

Fine Food and Art Marketplace

2012 showcases an expansive collection of fine art and food vendors located inside a cozy(and heated) tent on the festival grounds. Inside you will find locally made foods – ranging from pies and candies to Oregon made cheeses – art, clothing, jewelry, photography and plenty of other unique items! Metal Mulisha

Appearing again this year will be Metal Mulisha legend Justin “Holyman” Homan. For two years in a row Justin and other local riders have performed death defying tricks in the Old Mill. With names like cliff hanger, double grab, back flip, no footed knack knack, rock solid, can can flip and turn down whip you will not be disappointed. OMSI Kid’s Area

Bend WinterFest hosts the most unique family and kids area in the Northwest with performance art education, an arts and crafts area as well as exhibits by Portland’s coolest museum, OMSI Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Sponsored by Bend Research.

2012 U.S. Cellular Rail Jam – win cash and prizes!

Over 50 national and regional snowboarders and skiers will compete this year for our largest cash and prize giveaways yet. Friday night will open with the skiing competitions. Skiers compete in three rounds to determine the finalists. The top five skiers will then proceed to the final round, battling it out for the winning position. On Saturday, snowboarders will warm up to the sounds of nearby live music and cheers from excited spectators. Snowboarders compete in rounds to determine the top five boarders who will proceed to the final competition and coveted position as the #1 rider at Bend WinterFest 2012. Shakespeare on the Rocks: Good Will

In Good Will NWCTC Artistic Director Grant Turner tells the chronological story of Shakespeare’s life from his birth in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 to his death in 1616, highlighting such events as: his arrival in London in 1592, his debut at the Globe Theatre in 1599, and the publishing of the sonnets in 1609. The show is comprised of Shakespeare’s own writings, anecdotal stories, and historical facts, and features over 20 speeches from the plays, including “To be or not to be”, “All the world’s a stage”, and “Friends, Romans, countrymen” among others. Snow Sculptures and Ice Carving Exhibit

Nothing says “winter” more than ice and snow! Amazing life-size Snow Sculptures will greet you at every WinterFest entrance. You will also have the opportunity to witness some of the most talented ice carvers in the Northwest while they work their magic on blocks of ice. Come watch the artists carve ice on Friday evening and Saturday morning. The exhibits will be open for viewing during the festival. Sponsored by Hola!

Snow Warriors – Sunday, February 19th

Not for the faint of heart, Snow Warriors is an outrageous, fun and challenging event. Sprint from the start and traverse the course through crazy obstacles and terrain that includes mud, snow and ice. Prepare yourself to climb over, through and under extreme obstacles along the way to the ultimate finish – a climb up and slide down the WinterFest RailJam into the beer garden. Warm clothes and running shoes are the only required “gear,” but extra points will be given to participants in costume! Climbing up cargo nets, swinging from trees over mud, running through ice and snow pits as well as leaping over live flames are just a few of the obstacles Snow Warriors will encounter. The Bent Lounge

Come in from the cold at Winterfest and into the Bent Lounge, where the Source Weekly’s Bent blog team will be hanging out with drinks, music and general merriment. You can also play Keno and other Oregon Lottery games as you watch an iconic movie. Later in the night the Bent Lounge will be home to some zany happenings, including a winter beard contest and the first ever Scoop Lewis Celebrity Pro-Am Beer Pong Grand Prix.  The Bent Lounge is 21 and over.

WinterFest Kids Snow Games

Are your kids disappointed because you can’t make it up to the mountain? No problem! WinterFest will bring the mountain down to you. The Kids Snow Games area is a large “snow-box” where your kids can make snowmen, snow angels, and frolic to their heart’s desire. We supply the play toys and snow, you get to sit back and relax while your little ones get their wiggles out. REI will also be making a life-sized igloo and doing interactive demonstrations throughout the WinterFest weekend. Sponsored by The Center.

WinterFest Wine Walk – 5pm to 9pm

During WinterFest, the Shops in the Old Mill are transformed into a mecca for fine wines with the annual Wine Walk. Tickets for the event are $20 per person(which includes a WinterFest button), $15 per person if you already have a WinterFest button. Tickets include a commemorative wine glass and 10 wine tasting tickets. Look for our complete list of wines and retailers February 1. Sponsored by Trinchero Family Estates.

Polar Plunge

Polar Plunge is Special Olympics Oregon’s most unique and daring fundraising event, and we invite you to join the tradition! Come to the 6th Annual Bend Polar Plunge and go splashing into the Deschutes River with a bunch of wild and zany people. Raise some money, have lot’s of fun and brag about it later!
